Clean Code Author Uncle Bob: "I No Longer Read the Code My AI Agents Write!" 🤯💻

Uncle Bob (Robert C. Martin), author of Clean Code, creator of the SOLID principles, and a veteran who has been writing code since the 1960s, recently posted on X (Twitter) to share his latest coding strategy for the AI era! https://lnkd.in/g3ekEJez
💡 Uncle Bob’s core points:\

1. No more line-by-line code review. Uncle Bob says the only way to truly unlock an AI agent’s high productivity is to stop personally reading and reviewing every line of AI-written code. If you still have to slowly read it by hand, you can’t enjoy the AI’s speed advantage at all.\
2. Build a “Test Gauntlet”. Not reading the code doesn’t mean letting go! His approach is to surround the AI agent with extreme constraints and layers of tests (overloading with tests). Automated tests and specifications do the gatekeeping, instead of manual code checking.\
3. The focus shifts from “supervising” to “constraining”. People used to think “writing readable code” was the most important thing, but in the AI era the bottleneck is no longer “reading code”. It’s “how to design a system where the AI can’t make mistakes”.
   The master who used to stress “code should be written for people to read” is now the first to tell everyone “you don’t need to read code anymore”!
